  • ACH Credit allows you to electronically make payments to consumers, corporate customers, and suppliers
  • ACH Payroll Direct Deposit is an easy way to make payments directly into an employee’s checking or savings account. Use for payroll, expense reimbursements, bonuses, pensions, and other employee payments
  • ACH Debit allows you to electronically collect payments from consumer and corporate accounts

Bill Pay

This product streamlines the back-office payment tasks and gives you the resources and time you need to focus on your business. Business Online Bill Pay was designed specifically to meet the needs of today’s businesses. In addition to making payments, you can

  • Delegate the payment responsibilities

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is cash management, and what does it include?

Cash management is First Western’s suite of treasury tools for commercial customers who need more control over how money moves. It includes ACH origination, business Bill Pay, Remote Deposit Capture, Positive Pay for fraud prevention, wire origination, and permission-based access for multiple users. Together, these tools help your business send and collect payments, protect accounts, and manage daily treasury activity more efficiently.

2. What's the difference between cash management and business online banking?

Business online banking covers everyday needs: 24/7 account access, transfers, balances, and statements. Cash management is built for businesses that need stronger treasury tools and payment controls, such as originating ACH files, running payroll direct deposit, sending wires, and reducing check fraud with Positive Pay. If you’re mainly checking balances and moving money between accounts, online banking is enough; if you need to originate payments and manage user permissions, cash management is the better fit.

3. What is ACH origination, and what can I use it for?

ACH is the electronic equivalent of a check, but faster, more convenient, and more secure. With ACH origination you can use ACH Credit to pay consumers, corporate customers, and suppliers electronically; ACH Payroll Direct Deposit to pay employees, reimbursements, bonuses, and pensions directly into their accounts; and ACH Debit to collect payments from consumer and corporate accounts. It’s a paperless way to manage both sides of your cash flow.

4. How does Positive Pay help prevent check fraud?

Positive Pay compares the checks presented against your account with the checks your business has actually issued, flagging any discrepancies before they clear. That gives you a chance to review and reject suspicious or altered items before money leaves your account. It’s one of the most effective tools available for reducing check fraud risk.

5. What is Remote Deposit Capture, and how does it work?

Remote Deposit Capture lets you deposit business checks without leaving your office. You scan checks on a desktop scanner and electronically submit them into your First Western Bank account, which means fewer trips to the branch and faster access to your funds. Deposit cutoff times determine when funds become available, so timing your scans matters.

6. Can I send wire transfers through cash management?

Yes. Wire Origination lets you send domestic wire transfers quickly and securely through online banking. Wires have a daily cutoff time, so anything submitted after the deadline or on a non-business day processes the next business day.

7. Can I assign different users different levels of access?

Yes. Cash management supports multiple users with permission-based access, so authorized employees can only see the accounts and use the functions you assign to them. You can also delegate payment responsibilities and set permission controls within Bill Pay, which gives finance teams the flexibility to divide duties while you stay in control.

8. What are the cutoff times for ACH, wires, and remote deposits?

Cutoff times determine whether a transaction processes the same business day or the next. Same-day ACH cuts off in the morning, while next-day ACH, wires, and Bill Pay have afternoon deadlines, and Remote Deposit Capture has both a late-morning and a mid-afternoon cutoff. All times are Central, and transactions submitted after the cutoff or on weekends and holidays process the next business day. For the full schedule by transaction type, see the Business Banking Cut Off Times document.

9. How do I get started with cash management?

Contact our Cash Management Team to discuss ACH services, Remote Deposit Capture, Positive Pay, wire origination, and the right setup for your business. They can help you choose the tools that match your treasury needs and configure user permissions for your team. You can also visit a branch to talk through your options in person.
